Our Middle East STM is a Level 2 trip. While we can not guarantee it will be safe or easy, there is guaranteed significant physical stress. You will be stretched with possible outdoor sleeping, outdoor bathrooms, roughing it without running water. There will be a considerable amount of walking and hiking on a level 2 STM. Significant stresses we can not control include heat. We do not recommend this trip for those with mobility restrictions or strong aversion/low tolerance to the elements of nature. Keep in mind, your tolerance level affects an entire team. Do not sign up for this STM if you are not able to “take one for the team.”

he CCWM STM to an undisclosed country located in the Middle East is unlike any other type of short term trip to Christianized lands (America, Latin America, Europe, much of Africa).

Christians in this part of the world exist as a tolerated minority who are at times persecuted. You will not be doing the sorts of things that happen on many such trips: VBS (illegal to work with people under 18 without signed parental permission), construction, open evangelism, passing out Bibles (illegal), etc.

Instead, you will identify with both believers here and those who work among them – learning discretely while sharing the hope of Jesus. Thus, it is not a “doing” trip in the normal way of thinking. It is more subtle – it is learning, praying, visioning, discerning, and identifying with.

This trip will largely focus on raising your awareness of the needs of the “least-reached with the Gospel.” This country is over 98% Muslim with a tiny fraction of 1% being some sort of Christian (this includes all varieties both ancient and modern).

Foreign workers are routinely evicted from the country if the government tires of their presence (they consider them to be undermining the social order and label them terrorists – their way of getting around “freedom of religion” that they say they uphold).

You will spend considerable time learning about the least-reached, Islam, the current move of God here, praying for the city, participating while observing, and gaining a heart for people in this part of the world. The hope is that you will either engage as a worker yourself, mobilize others to go, support others who are going, and otherwise champion the neglected least-reached gospel.

This trip is led by experienced long term Believers devoted to serving God in this nation.
