Do you know this story? A man named Abraham was seeking a wife for his son. He made his servant take a vow to take a journey in search of her. The servant did not know her or where to find her. He took a journey of faith in God to find the woman through whom the promises of God to Abraham would be fulfilled.
Our Father in Heaven has also made promises to expand his own family through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Like the servant of old, I have been asked by Him go on a lifelong faith journey to find his children in unknown areas.
I see her leading animals to water, or climbing a mountain with heavy sticks on her back. He sits alone by a river asking himself who God is. Children play in the dirt while their parents work nearby. He holds a new baby girl close to himself in love but worry for what the future might hold for her. She sits on a rock to rest the burdens of old age.
We are all called to this...to find our brothers and sisters and bring them home!
